Our approach does not depend on scientific breakthroughs or new discoveries. We currently have all the technology we need to make widespread use of electric cars a reality. Project Better Place will integrate the necessary components that already exist, and companies that help in the process will join an industry worth $6-10 trillion dollars annually.
Electric cars will get their power through a system called the Electric Recharge Grid. The parts of the ERG include the car, batteries, charging points, exchange stations, software and renewable energy systems -- all of which need committed manufacturers and suppliers. This virtual oil field will allow us to commute to work and take long trips in better performing automobiles. We have the choice to save our planet and our economies.
